The Chiaro is a screen that considers the relationship between light and shadow to create a rich emotional space. Its name is derived from the art term chiaroscuro, which refers to the use of contrasting light and dark tones. It features simple shapes of squares and circles in various sizes and thicknesses. The long perforated patterns on the square surfaces are inspired by the effect of sunlight shining through clouds. When exposed to sunlight, chiaro reveals sharp contrasts of light and shadow, filling the space with richness. It is designed to be just the right height to provide a subtle barrier for a person seated in a small space, shorter than an average adult. Its structure is made of three wooden panels connected at different angles to create a zigzag pattern, with the wings on either side fixed in place.
