If so, I think that it is necessary to keep asking about the meaning and usage methods of stones reflecting the contemporary age. It is to reveal the texture and high density of the rocks as it was mined, rather than the beauty of the finished surface. Everyone has a rough idea of ​​the weight of a rock. You can deduce the abstract weight even if you did not lift the rock up, which we are seeing now. In the Weight collection, experiences of various weights you have felt in your life give you an opportunity to visually explore weights of the natural rocks just mined from a rock mountain.

It is to formulate an object to make people have an experience for weight of a rock in visually. To put a natural rock, hanging from the ceiling in a string, on the narrow high sculpture is to express the human sense re-edited in the artist’s intention. It finally functions as a rock having a proper weight presses the narrow sculpture which looks to fall down easily. Whole pieces have functions to put a book, CDs, sketchbooks or art books, which you love. You can realize a blur boundary between art and design or function for the body and function for mentality. That project is relative to explore contemporary meaning of life for design and art.

석기 시대가 끝났다고 해서 인류가 돌 사용을 끝낸 것은 아니다. 그렇다면 시대성을 반영한 돌을 의미와 사용 방법에 대한 계속적인 질문이 필요하다. ‘돌의 무게’에서 어린 시절 자연과 물질을 탐구하던 태도로 자연석에 대한 분석을 진행하려 했다. 이번 작업에서는 가공된 표면의 아름다움이 아닌, 채굴된 그대로의 돌의 질감과 높은 밀도를 시각적 조각 물로 드러내려 하였다. 모든 사람은 돌의 무게에 대한 대략적 인지를 가지고 있다. 우리가 지금 보고 있는 돌을 들어보지 않았다고 할지라고 추상적인 무게를 유추할 수 있다. 자신의 경험 속의 촉감을 통해 느껴본 다양한 무게를 ‘돌의 무게’에서는 방금 땅에서 채굴된 자연석의 무게를 시각적으로 탐구하는 기회가 될 것이다.

돌의 무게는 저울에 재거나 들어보지 않고도 오직 시각만으로 돌의 무게를 인식할 수 있도록 한 작품이다. 폭이 좁고 긴 금속 조형물은 쉽게 쓰러질 듯이 보이지만, 끈(와이어)으로 천장에 매단 묵직한 돌로 눌러서 안정감있게 만들었다. 또한 아슬아슬한 긴장감과 균형감을 동시에 주는 조형미를 표현하고자 했다. 돌의 무게는 눈대중으로 어림짐작할 수밖에 없지만 언젠가 돌을 만지고 들어봤던 촉각적인 감각을 깨우쳐 감흥으로 전환되도록 의도했다. 모든 피스는 각자 자신이 사랑하는 책과 CD, 스케치북, 아트북을 보관할 수 있는 기능을 가지고 있다.
